After the PPP presentations I found that a couple of the designers on the course had been to marketing studios for their placements. My younger brother recently just did a placement at an new marketing company in my home town so I contacted them just out of curiosity to see what they thought of my work. (see replies below)
It's great to have another contact for the future as of course at the moment everything is uncertain as to where I will be working or what I will be doing. Even though they already have just employed a designer I still believe it is useful as I found a direct email through searching on linkedin and I gained a positive response from my portfolio which of course is always good to hear and gives me confidence to keep contacting studios.
