PPP: Networking

Why is networking good for ME personally?
I think networking will be good for me now and in the future because it allows me to understand what is possible after and outside of the degree/ student environment. It also allows for people to communicate about design and create ideas or become inspired from other people. It also gives the possibility of opportunities to create work with others in the future.

For what I may get out of it is it worth it? - Yes.

WHAT can I get out of this? In the future with confidence I feel as though I will be able to communicate with other designers. However as a first year design student I am quite unsure as to whether it is a good idea for me to start so soon, I somewhat feel that my work needs to dramatically improve to be considered a fellow designer to engage in contact.

Am I doing this simply because I am being asked to?
Not simply because I have been asked, but it is rather encouraging to hear that I could be considered someone who could potentially engage in contact with designers.

WHAT do I think that I am NOT doing as far as networking?
I haven't managed to get the courage to contact any designers in the creative industry because I am unsure what to say and whether it will be relevant or interesting in any way. I feel as thought I need to engage with research into design studios to be able to have more confidence to contact them.

Do YOU think that in this kind communication, language is a major barrier?
Language isn't a barrier because the majority of countries do speak some English, however I do feel as though it is rather arrogant to expect others to know English to be able to communicate. Google Translate does offer some help when there is a barrier, however I know there are grammatical issues with their translations.

Design Studios!

I have begun looking into different design studios and I found a few which I thoroughly enjoyed looking through their work.

I firstly started looking at Design Studios in Leeds: I came across this studio: http://www.madebyanalogue.co.uk/showcase/#all
Their work is utterly amazing and each project is completely unique from the other. They strive on working to what the clients brief asks for and create superb outcomes. I particularly liked this brief:

I also found that Analogue studios has a blog which further contained the studio's personality as a whole

Through my own love of travel I have visited France quite a few times so I thought I would see if I liked any of the design studios within Paris.
When looking online I found two which stood out to me:

Les Graphiquants
http://www.les-graphiquants.fr/#!/ccn-ballet-de-lorraine-2012-2013

Publication design with their own typeface design, I really loved the choice of colour palette.

(delicate typeface I liked the aesthetics of)

Piece which was used in conjunction with an exhibition of artwork in Le Havre. A large majority of their work is in Black and White which I aesthetically do love (minimal colour).

Another design studio which I really liked was:

This project in particular was utterly amazing as not only their print work was fantastic but it also translated to screen for Adidas.

To continue from my initial research I think I will see if I can find studios which I could see myself wanting to create similar work or if I in fact want to contact one of these studios.
