PPP- BRIEF 2- Penguin shortlist!

http://penguinrandomhousedesignaward.co.uk/index.php

On the 21st April Penguin emailed me great news that my design for How To Be A Woman had been shortlisted!

The email also included feedback on my design from the creative director Jason Smith which was really great to receive as feedback from professionals outside of university is something I am not completely familiar with. However I was incredibly pleased that they liked the overall concept of my design and that it was simply tweaks that had to be made.

This feedback will also give me time to edit my design based upon the comments to further my chances in winning the competition. The winner is announced at a awards night in London on June 22nd which will be a great opportunity to network with the other students and professionals and is something I am extremely looking forward to.

PPP- BRIEF 2 MIXUS studio & Instagram!

From taking part in creating a poster for Keiran's LCA Triptych my poster was shown on instagram and had gained a couple of 'likes' one of which was from a studio in Rotterdam. From them liking a small piece of my work I thought it would be a good opportunity to check out their work and ask for them to have a look at my portfolio.

I sent them this email:

Their reply:

It is fantastic to hear such positive feedback from them and learn more about how they work as a studio. By contacting more studios I am gaining confidence in my portfolio/work but also developing skills in gaining attention of studios which is really important.

PPP- BRIEF 2 Marketing contact

After the PPP presentations I found that a couple of the designers on the course had been to marketing studios for their placements. My younger brother recently just did a placement at an new marketing company in my home town so I contacted them just out of curiosity to see what they thought of my work. (see replies below)

It's great to have another contact for the future as of course at the moment everything is uncertain as to where I will be working or what I will be doing. Even though they already have just employed a designer I still believe it is useful as I found a direct email through searching on linkedin and I gained a positive response from my portfolio which of course is always good to hear and gives me confidence to keep contacting studios.
